Running my jet in the fall

In addition to all these tips, I suggest getting some compressed air. Shoot it in the "pee" hole. It will clear out the mulched leaves and keep the motor running cool. I struggled for years until figuring some of this out. Been wanting to design some kind of grate with a handle to run in the...

    Control box electrical question Mercury

Long story but... When new control cable installed, I can't lift the idle/throttle lever and get the ignition to turn over. Is there a way to bypass this " safety" feature?

    Smoked wiring harness

I know my starter is still turning over. It acts as if the kill switch has engaged. I'm chalking that up to all the melted bare wires. Thanks for your input.

    Smoked wiring harness

What could cause the harness from the contoller/ignition to my merc outboard to melt and basically burn up? This happened one other time due to loose terminal connections but they were tight. Anything helps? What Amp in-line fuse could I use to keep this from happening with a new harness...

    Inboard jet vrs. Outboard jet

I read the articles and they are well written and informative. Based on the information, I will be running my boat until it is dead while saving my hard earned money to buy a rig like the one you are currently running. I will also try to spend more time with experienced jet boaters to get...

    Fuel delivery issue. Merc 90hp

Frustrated! 2004 mercury 65jet which has a 90hp 3 cylinder head. Idles fine. Starts fine. When I throttle up, I'm losing power and rpms. Had the motor checked out by mechanic who says it runs fine. Well, he ran it in a tub and not on the open water. Compression and spark fine. It has nothing...

    Spray shield questions

Mac That is a great pic. I tried to use those "wings" and they lasted about 1 day. Do you just have the splash guard riveted with some marine sealant?

    Inboard jet vrs. Outboard jet

I'm sure you jet heads have tossed this topic around but I haven't been able to find a post on it. Let's talk... Outboard jet 2stroke Outboard jet 4stroke Inboard jet (ie merc sport jet) better efficiency of the inboard however they never discuss the weight. How does the weight of a nice...

    New Boat

Looks great. Interested to hear how it runs. Draft and speed. Do you run the Susquehanna? I'm headed to the susky for first time in nov to fish/camp. I'm a little nervous about navigating that river.

    Any center forward console owners?

The beach chair is a dilemma. I'll need to price out the throttle and shift cables. I have a significant amount of electrical coiled up. I just like the idea of being upfront for better visibility.

    Punch for removing jet grates?

Thanks guys. I called and ordered 9 grates and the pins for about $55 delivered.

    Punch for removing jet grates?

I'm trying to order new pins and grates for my 2004 merc 65jet. I haven't been able to get what I need because they are part of the foot assembly. Any suggestions?

    Any center forward console owners?

If anyone is still looing at this original post... what would I need to buy to move my console further forward? A longer steering cable, throttle and whatever the cable is that moves to F&R. Any suggestions???

    motor height

All these guys are right on the money. When you are running it, I'd suggest doing some figure 8 to creat some chop. You want to see of it's going to cavitate. I feel your pain bc sometimes one hole is too much. Looking forward to hearing how it performs tomorrow. Good Luck.
