    New TM hook-up

Just got back from Cabela's with my new trolling motor. It's a Minn-Kota Power Drive V2 50# thrust. I wanted something with a small footprint and a small foot controller because of the small front deck on my deep-vee. The manual isn't clear and there is a tag on the wire that says to install a...

    motorguide wireless

Anybody have any info about these? I'm considering one for my 14' deep-vee. I like the idea of a small foot pedal and the ability of control from either front or back of boat. https://sites.mercurymarine.com/portal/page?_pageid=125,56450&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL

    trolling motor size

I'm starting to look at trolling motors for me 14' deep-vee. Question is how do I determine how long of a shaft I need? My first thought is to take it to a lake & find a shallow slimey section & get a waterline on the boat. Maybe then I can try to measure from that line to the top of the gunnel?????

    vented battery box

With my V-mod, I'm putting two batteries under the front deck where I built a storage area. Is it necessary to vent this area?

    Marsh Creek, Pa.

Went out to Marsh Creek in Chester County with a buddy yesterday. We got about 10-12 small LM's. Water was way too clear. We could see lures that were 6-8 feet down. water temps were 62-66 degrees. Looks like males are starting to move up for the spawn. Saw a few muskies cruising the weed beds...

    Tire sizing

I currently have a 14' deep-vee that I have finally started a mod on. I'm adding floors, deck in front & a few other things. The trailer has 4.80x8 tires on it. I don't trailer over 60-65 mph but I still notice on a warm or hot day that the tires are pretty hot when I get to a ramp. I'm sure...

    6 ga. wire

I have about 40' of stranded 6 ga. wire that I used for a new range in a kitchen remodel. Would this be o.k. to use for my trolling motors when I rewire the boat? Is there such a thing as marine grade wire that I must use?

    aluminum & rivets

I ordered my aluminum angle & square tube to start my framing today. I got it at onlinemetals.com. They were about 1/3 the price of Lowes or Home Depot. I started to frame with 2 x 2's & decided to bite the bullet & use the metal. Should be here in 3 days. Question: What type & size rivets...

    Delaware River

We took my neighbor's boat out for it's shakedown cruise this morning. We anchored up near the Burlington Bristol for about one hour. I got a three pound cattie on some chunk herring. He got the skunk. Water temp was 50-53 deg.

I tkink I know the answer but.......I have sheets of 3/4" MDF that I got for free. Would it be O.K. to use it for storage lockers and/or decks. I would use a marine epoxy on it first. Thanks

    V-Boat front deck

I'm in the process of drawing up some plans for my deep-vee mod. I see a lot of people have added front decks & pedestal seats. How stable are they to fish from? These are pics of the boat. i was planning on spanning the front shelf & the first seat. They are 8" down from the top of the...

    aluminum source

Does anyone know where I can get aluminum angles, channels, etc. around the Philly area? I don't want to go to one of the home centers because I'll probably pay too much and I'm not sure about the grade of aluminum. Thanks

Trolling motor and outboard on transom.

I have a 14' deep-vee and I have both motors on the transom. My 9.9 stays in the center and the trolling moror mounts next to it. Steerage never seems to be an issue. When I'm on the 9.9 I put the troller in the horizontal position. My handles are further out than yours so I don't have that...

    my 14' discovery

O.K. Let me try this again. These are pictures of my '92 14' Discovery Marine. What I want to do: add a flat floor. remove the center seat for more floor space. remove the center section of the rear seat, close the ends in & tie into the floor ribs. this will give me split seats in the back so...

    trolling motors

I'm looking to get a 55 lb. transom mount motor for my 14' aluminum deep-vee. The question is Minn-Kota or Motor Guide? I have a 36 lb. Minn-Kota now that is about 8 years old. Still works fine but I'm planning on adding floors & storage so the extra weight is driving me. Any help with motors? :?:

    New Guy

Hi! I'm Tunnels. I just joined the forum after looking around for a bit. This looks like a really good site to share info & get new ideas. It's tough to find people who can be happy with basic rigs. I live in Lower Bucks County just north of Philly, Pa. Been fresh water fishin' for lots o'...
