Looking for a windhield '71 Starcraft Super Sport

Hey Everyone, It's been a while since my last post and alot has been going on. I picked up a 1971 Starcraft SuperSport in a trade this past winter. And after some trailer title issues, finally got her on the water in early June. For the most part she's in good shape and a big upgrade from the...

    1971 Starcraft Supersport

Thanks Guys, Yeah Earl, it is nice and wide. The specs say it has a 78" beam, but it measures out closer to 75". The biggest thing for us is the depth having younger boys. It's 25" from the gunwale to the floor, that should help keep them in the boat better than our previous boat. Thanks to...

    14' Starcraft Seafarer build

Awesome looking tin! Man, does that bring back memories! This past winter we traded ours for a bigger 16' Starcraft SuperSport with an 80hp Mercury. When I looked at yours, I had to go back and look at my old pics to reminise about the fun we had with it. I hope you enjoy it, it looks great...

    1971 Starcraft Supersport

That's already been established as you can see by the following pic. My question was; Is the serial# on the ID tag one-in-the-same to the Hull ID#? Should it be? I didn't have this problem with my other boat.

    1971 Starcraft Supersport

Thanks for the many resources so far Everyone. Take a look at some pics I took yesterday while we were getting her ready (now that the weather is better). We got the motor running the other night and it seems to run good. Definately a step (or six) up from our other boat with the 9.9 Merc. I...

    1971 Starcraft SS w/Mercury 80Hp MerControl

Fisherman58, Thanks for your response. Where can I get those replacement cables? Do I have to go to the Mercury dealer, or can I find them somewhere else? What sort of $$$ can I expect to pay?

    1971 Starcraft SS w/Mercury 80Hp MerControl

Yes, it seems like they're working as of now, but I'm not really sure because we haven't had her running yet. Just got the covers off of her yesterday and while cleaning I noticed the cables looked rough.

    1971 Starcraft SS w/Mercury 80Hp MerControl

Hello All, It's been a long time since I've been on Tinboats (much less posted). It's been a LONG, but exciting winter. Some of you may have followed our build of a 1981 Starcraft Seafarer to it's relative finish last August. Well this past January, after much deliberation, we traded her...

    1971 Starcraft Supersport

Thanks, there is a lot of info there, but didn't see what I was looking for just yet.

    1971 Starcraft Supersport

Hello Everyone, Well we did it. We traded our 1981 StarCraft Seafarer 14' w/9.8hp Mercury for a 1971 StarCraft Supersport 16' w/80hp Mercury. Anyway, I would love to find out more info about the Supersport. I think it was manufactured as a "runabout", but has become more of a fishing boat over...

    Workin' on a Trade

Thanks, any ideas how I go about making sure the motor runs good in the middle of an Indiana winter? Won't be able to get the boat on the water for a while. It's been real cold here for the last two weeks. Just got off the phone with the mechanic who has done some of the work on the motor, and...

    Workin' on a Trade

Hey Everyone, It's been a while since I've posted. It was fixin' to be a nice quiet winter and then it happened. I was on craigslist taking care of some items I want to get rid of and after I finished, I looked at the local boat classifieds. Saw one "Sell or Trade", and had to take a look for...

    14' Starcraft Seafarer build

Well, it's great to see a fellow "Cheesehead" with similar interests. What do/will you be fishing for when she's done? My close friend and fellow "Cheesehead Transplant" has got me jacked up about Muskie Hunting. We both now live in N.E. Indiana and have quite a selection of Muskie lakes here...

    14' Starcraft Seafarer build

Hey Mark, Looks just like the Starcraft we just finished. Ours is a 1981 Seafarer, how about yours? Looks like you've already gotten started. Get ready for alot of (very rewarding) hard work. We started our build in January and just got to the point about a month ago that we could put her back...

    Looking for an upgrade

Shawnfish, Thanks I have thought about that, but I am not sure of how to check the RPMs. I would need to check with the boat in the water, correct? I am not sure what tools I would need for this either.

    Looking for an upgrade

Shawnfish, The boat is a 14' Starcraft rated for a 25hp motor. We removed the middle seat, installed the 3/4" thick flat floor on a wood frame, casting deck, battery/electrical compartment, and a foot control Minn Kota trolling motor at the bow. I'm really not sure of the weight of the boat with...

    Looking for an upgrade

Hello All, We have recently finished a build and with all of the mods, the boat has gained a little weight. The 9.8hp Mercury still does OK, but I would like to get an 18hp or 20hp for next season. I am pretty sure I need a long shaft and would like to stick with an older Mercury (familiarity)...
