Transom saver if my 1436 hangs well past trailer frame?

Thanks again! Load-Rite won't talk to me (retail customers can only talk to dealers; like their quality not their service!) but I found a 90" aftermarket pre-drilled. I need to get out in the ice and snow and measure the current one to make sure it isn't already 90"! Thought about a hitch...

Transom saver if my 1436 hangs well past trailer frame?

Arghhh... Just spoke to my go to trailer supplier and he said Load Rite won't sell a longer tongue because they 'don't recommend it'...possibility of collapse, etc. Only option from him at least is a 12' stock piece and then I have to cut and drill everything. Guess I'll try to shove...

Transom saver if my 1436 hangs well past trailer frame?

Thanks! Great info! I think the spring rate on the Load Rite is okay and it's essentially brand new so I'll look at pulling everything forward and getting another tongue. I have a cross bunk under the bow and the winch level at the handle but I know what you mean. That .050" Tracker tin foil...

Transom saver if my 1436 hangs well past trailer frame?

Thanks Gary. Argghh. I took a peek and I'll have to do the same thing. I hate to because not only then can't turn sharp but will have to dunk truck rear wheels. It's a brand new and nice Load Rite or I'd use it as an excuse to get a longer trailer. Nothing ever that easy I guess! S

Transom saver if my 1436 hangs well past trailer frame?

Thanks! Yes, I meant past frame. Less to bunks for sure so I'll take a look later and see how that will work out.

Transom saver if 1436 hangs well back of trailer?

Yup. Sorry about that. I tried to delete the one here after realizing my error but could not figure out how. Checking 'delete' didn't work.

Transom saver if my 1436 hangs well past trailer frame?

So I'm about to pull the trigger on a 9.9 for the 1436 Tracker. Although 'only' 90+ pounds I'm concerned about the .050" transom and want to install a transom saver. However the transom is probably 2' past the back of the trailer (and I can't adjust much at this point). I could bolt on some...

6 HP on 1436; prop guard too?

Thanks gang! Looks like 8 HP will work well. A little concerned about the cheap .050 AL on the Tracker but nothing ventured..., lol. Should I use a transom saver while yanking it around on my Load-Rite?

Anyone tried to hang a small jet on a 1436?

I doubt it could take the weight and strain and the thin AL would be no fun on a 'mistake' but just dreaming. It's certainly the ultimate solution for where i want to go. I don't have room to garage a larger 'real jet' (i.e. Xpress!). Thanks.

6 HP on 1436; prop guard too?

Thanks guys! I don't have it yet. Trying to keep the weight to where I can take it off if needed (old guy with questionable back) but maybe I shouldn't focus as much on that. Bottom line after decades of fishing river, lake, Bay and ocean I realize that my first love is still those Smallies...

6 HP on 1436; prop guard too?

So I finally want to convert my all electric (bow motor plus 80#/24V stern motor) to something that can get up river (Upper Potomac). Not looking for speed and mostly solo so 6 HP 4 stroke at around 60 pounds weight seems like good choice. Any recommendations on a small prop guard so i don't...

Anyone try to use 'Captain Hook' retriever on a Jon handle??

It would be nice to be able to use that thing to latch the winch hook to the front handle when the water is cold and I really don't want to slip in while retrieving! My concern is that the device itself may be a bit too large to get the winch hook onto the handle. Anyone try it? Thanks!! Steve

    Ultimate bunk boards..two thumbs up!

How do they hold up with riveted boats?? I'm also concerned about too 'hard' a surface yanking at the rivets. Thanks, Steve

Portable crane or lift for batteries, etc??

Nice pics! Bet I'm not the only one salivating. Can never have too many tools, gadgets or too much mechanical advantage (if you have a big enough space anyway!). Steve

Portable crane or lift for batteries, etc??

Good point but son-in-laws only available on occasion. I've decided to use a piece of angle steel on the garage ceiling (tested to 175 pounds already ;-) ) and have just ordered a simple Northern Tools 7:1 rope hoist and we'll go from there. I can also use it to tilt the mower for deck...

Portable crane or lift for batteries, etc??

Yup, it's me...but about 10 years ago outside Annapolis with that 44"er (released). Have had several bad years but did well again this year there. My future plan though is to get back to the smallmouth and largemouth variety! Swingarm on the garage ceiling might be good! I know that it's a...

Portable crane or lift for batteries, etc??

Thanks gang. I have a large two-wheeler that lays down and converts to a four-wheeler which will give me an under the boat or truck brace against lifting if I can put together a little post and boom and block and tackle. Will report back. Wish I were a welder! S

Portable crane or lift for batteries, etc??

Understand. I do that most of the time but I meant when I want to remove them to do some mods or put spares in and out for long runs, etc, etc....

Portable crane or lift for batteries, etc??

My bad back makes removing batteries from the boat or transferring other heavy stuff a significant risk. I'm trying to come up with a small portable 'crane', maybe even made from wood that will handle at least 50-60 pounds, preferable 100. Yes, a ceiling mount might do but I would rather not...
