1983 25hp Evinrude won't shut off.

I have a 1983 25hp Evinrude with remote start, it's on a 83 Rhyan Craft I've been restoring. I got the engine running had some carb problems but got them all worked out with some help from y'all, thank you. However I noticed that I could not shut the engine off with the key or emergency pull tab switch. I had to choke it to shut it off. Anyone ever dealt with this problem? help

Lol, usually it's the other way around. Is the motor setup tiller or does it use a control box?

LOL!!! Yes that use to be the problem got that strighten out, a carb problem. But now I it won't shut off. It's a OMC control box.

Well , I changed out the power pack and that did it! It **** off with the key just in time for spring.
