I have a 10hp restriction and want to set up a 16 foot Princecraft aluminum for playing around on the upper Niagara river with a steady 2-3 MPH current. I have a choice of a 1998 Nissan 9.9 2 stroke and a 1985 B100 9.9 4 stroke. I am thinking the Nissan is a hands down choice for the power. Any thoughts?

Nissan $700
+247 cc (same block as 12 and 15 hp)
+reputation for being stronger than 9.9 rating
-mixing fuel (not a big deal, we already have mix for the yamaha pee wee)
-noisier

Honda $400
+4 Stroke
+quieter
- 197 cc same as the 7.5 of that year

By the way, the 9.9 limit allows my 8 year old son to take a turn driving the boat which is why I am doing this setup.

I would go with the Nissan as well even tho I am a 4s guy. Having both would be nice if you can swing the $$

Nissan OBs all the way ... best built small motors ever made IMHO!

And I've also never have been impressed with the little Hondas. Our boatclub had a 6hp 4S for a dock dinghy that was an absolute dog ...

Used to own a 10hp honda. Super duper motor. started and ran great, great on gas.
I have no input on nissan but I do like the japanese motors. I also like a nice simple johnson too
