Got tired of the soft, rotten floors in my fiberglass C-Hawk, repairing, servicing and maintaining the outboard, and repairing and maintaining the rusty galvanized trailer.

Decided to get a plastic or aluminum boat that I could handle without a trailer and no outboard.

I spent several weeks researching fishing kayaks, canoes, and jon boats. While talking about possible kayak fishing with a buddy at the golf course, an older guy chimed in and said he'd sell me his small jon boat for $125.00 which is what he said he paid for it.

Well...here it is...

Thank You,

Paid $125.00 for the boat and 2 oars w/ oarlocks (not shown)...nothing else was included...I added everything else you see in the pics.

I made the dolly out of 1-1/2" pvc, 3/4" threaded rod for the axle, and 2 x 13" tires from Tractor Supply. The bunks were covered with foam pipe insulation.

I live about 250 yards from the community boat ramp and the dolly makes hauling, launching and retrieving easy.

Thank You,

Wait a minute. How about a close up of those oar locks.

The oarlocks appear to be original to the boat.

Found a couple of side-mount rod holders in the garage that I was gonna' mount on a boat many years ago but didn't have the heart to drill and mount on the boat.

I took a bench grinder to the shafts that were to fit into the base of the rod holders and ground away just enough plastic to where the shafts fit snugly into the oarlocks.

Found a couple of 3" x 1/4" bolts and thumb screws at the hardware store to mount them. There was already a hole through the shaft for the bolt. You can orient them however you want and adjust the friction with the thumb screw or they can be removed in seconds.

Thank You,

PS...the trout are safe this week...it's supposed to snow 8" here at the NC coast the next couple of days...
