I want to get rid of the wasted space between the console and deck. Ive done a johnboat coversion before but i used wood and with this being a 9.9 boat i need to keep weight down. The problem is i dont know a thing about aluminum. Will i be able to use rivets and screws instead of welding? From what i can tell i can unscrew that little square box step back and then just extend the deck back to where the console begins. Essentially what im asking is how should i build the support for it, what materials should i use to add as little weight as possible, and how to fasten them. Any sources for materials would be greatly appreciated. im having trouble finding matching carpet as well if anyone has came across something close.
