Glad to have found these forums. I guess I will jump right in with a question. I have a sears 12' jon boat of unknown vintage. Anyone have any idea how big a motor I can put on it. I have been running a 40lb thrust trolling motor, but would like to switch to gas power. Thanks in advance.

How wide is the boat at the bottom? Most likely a 9.9HP will be okay.

I Have a sears 12v with a 9.9 with the mods and 2 people about 210 a peice can get up on a plane... not real fast but it gets there

my 1432 sears is rated for 10 hp, so your 1232 is probably somewhere between 7.5 and 10.
