Hey everyone. My vinyl/carpet adhesive says not to use it on painted or urethaned panels. I wanted to urethane to protect the wood but wanted to see if anyone else put adhesive over it and how it worked?

I would not put down wood without sealing it somehow. The best thing to use is epoxy, urethane is okay and I don't see why you couldn't use it if you intend to glue to it. Don’t know why the manufacturer does not like a painted surface??

Wood won’t last 1 year under carpet without being sealed.

I put spar on all my platform/deck wood... several coats.

However, I laid down rubber backed marine carpet (basic stuff from Lowes) and used contact cement...

Used some 80 grit sand paper and just lightly scuffed it up, wiped it down.

I dont think it is going anywhere... maybe ever.
