Gunfight Rules...

In a gunfight, the most important rule Is ..... HAVE A GUN!!!

Shooting advice from various Concealed Carry Instructors.

If you own a gun, you will appreciate these rules... If not, you should get one and learn how to use it and learn the rules:

RULES:

A: Guns have only two enemies: rust and politicians.

B: It’s always better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

C: Cops carry guns to protect themselves, not you.

D: Never let someone or something that threatens you get
inside arm’s length

E: Never say "I've got a gun." If you need to use deadly force, the
first sound they hear should be the safety clicking off.

F: The average response time of a 911 call is 23 minutes; the response time of a .357 magnum is 1400 feet per second.

G: The most important rule in a gunfight is: Always win - there is no
such thing as a fair fight; cheat if necessary.

H: Make your attacker advance through a wall of bullets ... You may
get killed with your own gun, but he'll have to beat you to death
with it, ‘cause it will be empty.

I: If you're in a gun fight:
If you're not shooting, you should be loading.
If you're not loading, you should be moving.
If you're not moving, you're dead.

J: In a life and death situation, do something ... it may be wrong,
but do something!

K: If you carry a gun, people call you paranoid. Nonsense! If you have
a gun, what do you have to be paranoid about?

L: You can say 'stop' or any other word, but a large bore muzzle pointed
at someone's head is pretty much a universal language.

M: Never leave an enemy behind. If you have to shoot, shoot to kill.
In court, yours will be the only testimony.

N: You cannot save the planet, but you may be able to save yourself
and your family.

If you believe in the 2nd Amendment, forward to others you know
who also believe.

"Peace is that brief glorious moment in history, when everybody
stands around reloading" -- Thomas Jefferson

That gave me a chuckle.

But in all seriousness .... if you live in a state where its legal to have a concealed permit .... GET ONE!!!

Even if you don't want to carry, or even if you don't own a gun ..... GET THE PERMIT. At least then you have the option to legally carry to defend yourself and your family should the need arise.

Got mine, too. But it begs the question; "Why the firetruck should I have to ask permission?"

I agree with this wholeheartedly. I do not own a handgun, but am planning on taking the wife along and both of us getting concealed carry permits this year.

Funny but at the same time very true. I own several guns including 2 hand guns but to date I've never had the desire to carry. My state offers conceal carry but does not allow open carry. That being said, if I ever feel the need to carry one of my pistols, I will do so and consider it my right covered under the 2nd amendment. I know that thinking may end up getting me in trouble with the local police but I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Being in a rural farming community, we don't have the gang and drug war issues that a lot of the country faces and therefore a lot less need for personal protection on a daily basis.

This is exactly why you should just go get the permit. If the need arises and you want to carry .... doing so could land you in jail ... which isn't fair to your family. I hear what you are saying about the 2nd amendment ... but our government doesn't follow the constitution anymore.

You owe it to your family to take a few hours and spend a few bucks to get the permit. ESPECIALLY in a state where open carry is illegal.

If you do carry without the permit and get caught they will come into your house and take all of your weapons and forbid you to purchase any in the future. You will be labeled a felon forever more. It would be much easier to get the permit.

I'd venture to guess you've never lived in a small rural area like where I live. And when I say small, I'm talking this town has never seen a traffic light within it's city limits. I would guess that at any given time of the year, on avg 30-35% of the cars/trucks going down the road in my town has a pistol or long gun inside. There is something to hunt almost year round. All of the city, county, and state police know this, so they don't get overly excited by someone having guns in their vehicle in this setting. Most of us know each other on first name basis. And no, they're not going to storm my house and take my guns because I had a gun in my vehicle. Been there, done that, and all that jazz. I've read that there are a few states that will charge you with a 3rd class felony, but it's a misdemeanor in the vast majority of states including mine, so no, I'm not going to be labeled a felon forever more. As for protecting my family, I'm single and my kids live 6½ hours away. An just because the government doesn't follow the constitution doesn't mean I can't follow it and take my chances in court if it comes down to my rights being violated.
