Spun the hub (actually tore every peice of rubber out of it) about 3 miles downriver from the boat ramp, 10 miles from any cell service, and about 20 miles from the nearest town. yup, way out in BFE. A country boy can survive, so we found an old homested (im talking 1800's) and cut some wedges out of the dry logs under the rotten floor. acouple hours of widdling and hammering and i got my prop to stay on the hub. we let it sit in the water overnite to swell up and made it back to the ramp about 2pm the following day at almost an idle the whole way but WE MADE IT [-o<

so heres my question... do the props on the net come with the hub? or am i just going to have to have a shop press a new hub in?

another question. i cant find a freakin prop anywheres

its a 1964 johnson 3hp. any help is much obliged

ill try and get some pics of our craftsmanship, it may help somebody out one day :LOL2:

We all would get kick out of the handy work that saved your life. Please post some pics!!! :)

Here are some suggestions regarding your prop issue.

- Yes you can have it rehubbed but will you have find a marina that does it....call around your area or evening a dealership to get pricing.

- You can check some savage yards of outboards and may get a good deal or a spare prop.(An ugly but functional back up prop may save you some grief in the future. Keep the spare in the boat with a small bag of tools.

Try posting an ad at this website(its free) AOMCI (Antique Outboard Motor Club, Inc). Go under the section call webervise. Post your request.

https://www.aomci.org/cgi-bin/yabb2/YaBB ... Webvertize ( I have always gotten good parts through the aomci website) Ask them to email you a picture of the prop.

Here is a list of savage yards around the US that you can call or contact by email.

trip still turned out pretty good besides the prop and busting up my trailer. all that extra lax time for the prop wood to spung up put about 50 crappie in the boat and a few large lips :LOL2:

cant beat these old johnsons, had the prop off while we were in the middle of the lake in about 2 minutes
