Hello I appreciate your availability to assist.
I have a 1969 Johnson 2 stroke outboard Model 55ESL69A.
I have noticed if I grab the flywheel and begin to rotate it there seems to be about 1/8 of an inch rotational freeplay.
Something I might expect in an engine with loose big end rod bearings.
I have had it running for a short time and did not notice any knocking.
Compression is 110 120 120.
The flywheel does not appear to be slipping on the crankshaft.
Is this a problem?
Tks Bob

Stop before you even think about checking the flywheel key.
Yes, at the outer edge of the flywheel there will be some slop. Perfectly normal.
No, it will not be slop between the crankshaft and driveshaft splines.
Thank you Pappy That is good news to me. No symptoms just seemed odd.
Bob
