After seeing everyone's awesome Jon Boat conversion projects on tinboats I decided it would be a fun to start my own. I picked up a tracker 1236 Jon boat for the main fact that a lot of the lakes I fish are not easily accessible. Most don't have boat launches, and sometimes involve portaging short distances to an access stream/still water. so the 1236 was small enough to fit on the back of the truck and two guys can manage it on there own. I tried to use as little bracing as possible to save weight. The two bottom decks lift out, as well as the back deck. Everything else you see is fixed. After one week, the boat is pretty much complete; just waiting for the LED lights for the bow and finish the supports for the cover(bought the wrong size reducers).

Nice build. Let us know how the 1/2" plywood works out, I've been pondering it as well for the weight savings

Thanks
Had it out in the lake yesterday for the first time and everything was sturdy.
We waterproof all the wood in the boat. Hoping it holds up. I'll keep you posted.
