just curious. anyone else on here have the opportunity to run an LCM, or owns one for his business?
I ran one of these in the north atlantic, in some pretty rough water. It was neat to see the bow rise on the waves and then crash back down, sending a lot of spray back over the boat. sounded like the darn thing was going to fall apart, and then there was the vibration from the screws coming out of the water. these also had the bow ramps welded shut, because of the rough seas that we used them in.
you can "walk" them sideways, because of the twin screws. that's kind of different.
at 50' long they wouldn't be too easy to tow back and forth to the local lake, but I thought they were "FUN" to run in the big pond.
I got paid $0.17 per hr. to run one of these, and hoped that I wouldn't hit one of the nuclear submarines that we occasionally had to go between to unload cargo. #-o
