Can you tell me more about how the keel is constructed on this boat?

1995 Sea Nymph 1648MPT

I'd like to know what's under it without taking it off :) Is it slapped on top of a similar structure that exists lengthwise down the boat on either side of it, a flat hull or other?

My guess is that the hull skin is flat under it. You could look inside & verify. Just wondering why it is an issue?
 
There's a prevalent gap between the hull and the keel but it appears designed that way. Didn't want to start ripping the floor out to see down from topside and figured someone on here might know. No issues, inquiring minds.
