Replacing Rivets do I need rubber washers?

I have drilled out about 8 rivets to be replace with bolts around and on the transome.

The question is do I need to use rubber washers to make sure I get a good water seal, or what should I use?

This is on an aluminum boat.

The bolts I am using are stainless steel.

Agreed. I would go so far as suggesting the marine grade stuff that is meant for long term exposure under water.

Wal Mart had it by the tube in the boating section the last time that I looked.

I prefer 3M 5200.

Agreed. But I'll go one step further. Stainless steel panhead bolt, nylon washer, stainless nylock nut and 3m 5200.

That's over kill but you'll have no worries. :LOL2:
