I have an old motor as seen above. I am planning to put a briggs and stratton 6.75 hp on top of the lower unit. Does anyone have any ideas or concerns about this?

As long as you feel confidant in mounting it so it won't fall apart under power it should be fine, if may not be propped right as I don't know the operating RPM for either engine.

I had an old (new at the time) Sears GF 7.5 as a kid, it was air cooled made a ton of noise and vibrated like crazy. I'm thinking the B&S will be an upgrade in quality, just keep in mind the cast aluminum of the outdrive isn't all the strong.

If the motor you are going to use is off of a riding mower without a blade attached to the motor you will be okay.

If motor had blade attached you might need to add flywheel between motor and lower.

Bladed motors and non bladed motors use different flywheels.
