I have a 3.5 2 stroke Nissan and it came with the standard prop I think 6.5" pitch and they offer a 5.5" or something like that for heavy loads I use it on a 12' v hull 2 people usually an hit about 6mph doesn't sound like it hits near max rpm. Not sure if dropping 1" pitch would make a big difference.

Im not sure how much you will see with a 3.5 hp motor i dropped from a 26 to a 25pitch on my 225 yamaha and picked up 5 mph and it improved my hole shot but thats a little different depending on the price if you can afford it i say give it a shot

Yeah you might see 7mph.
You would be better off selling the 3.5 and buying a larger motor. I sold a few of those Nissan 3.5 motors on ebay a few years back for $250-$300 each. I would imagine their still worth close to that today.
