Motor Value

I am thinking about selling my 1978 25 hp Evinrude. It is a short shaft, tiller, pull start. It has some cosmetic damage on the cowl, but runs good. I have serviced or replaced the carb, impeller and lower unit. What would be the estimated value of this motor. The only reason I took it off is I exchanged some work for a newer 25 hp ELECTRIC START motor.

Welcome to Tinboats. Value is tough to determine without seeing the motor and what region you intend to sell it. Where I live, in avg condition I'd expect around $500 good running condition.

Sorry, should have stated that I live in East TN. I would lile to get at least $300 for it, so maybe I can get a little more. I plan on redoing my boat. My dad bought it for me when I was 15 and I haven't done anything since the first remodel.

you could probally get 500-800 around here depending on condition..

most of the value in a older motor is how it looks. the outside condition is all in the resale. a motor that is clean, insides shows no signs of overheating, lu has a nice skeg would fetch 5-600 here out west. the least is 300.00 that is a running motor, but looks a little aged.
