Hard starting cold

Started Sum.,and it was a job. Here is my process " I squeeze the bulb about 3 or 4 times...usually gets hard round then, I wait 30 sec. Push the key in hold for 10 sec. Turn key while holding it in" turns but no start....wait 3 to 5 mins, try the process again. Now here is how it starts for me " push the butterfly open, pour a little gas in, and manually ho
D the butterfyl open......then it starts right up. And run fine then . So is it the choke or not getting enough fuel ? I thought if it were fuel delivery issue, it would run really rough.

If it won't start with choke on but starts when you squirt a little gas in the carb throat, it sound's like you need to clean or rebuild your carb.
