Yamaha 9.9

Is anyone familiar with yamahas? I have an '87 9.9, and im looking to swap out the carb and reeds for 15hp parts. I know the carb that I need, my question is about the reeds. Do i need the whole new reed assembly, or can I just get the 15hp reeds?

Familiar with the motor I am.

Familiar with swapping a 9.9 to 15 I am not, and don't plan on ever being.

Swapping a 20 HP carb onto a 15 makes it a 20 (4 stroke only). Or making a 25 nissan/tohatsu into a 30....That's all I can tell you about swapping.

Perhaps going to one of the many web sites that list the parts breakdown, then comparing your 9.9 to a similar year model 15 would give the info. I would venture to assume that the tuner is different as well-but I am not 100% positive. Yamaha has never been like Evinrude or Johnson as far as swapping parts. But be careful about the information you find, because a lot of it I've seen is based off of PartsSmart diagrams, which aren't 100% accurate
