does the old Evinrude charge the battery ?

Hello , I have a question i hope to get an answer too … I have an 83/84 40HP electric start Evinrude , and was wondering , does this motor charge the starting battery up while its running ? I/E does it have an alternator on it or similar ? Thanks for allowing me to join this forum , I have been doing a lot of reading , and enjoy learning things on here every day ….

Yes it does however don't hold your breath waiting for the battery to charge back up.
That charging system put out around 4A at best and that was in the upper RPM range.
At lower RPM the output to the battery was pretty low.
