I'm thinking about adding a jack plate with tilt and trim to my 1542 alumacraft with a 25 Yamaha. The CMC one is nice but pricey. What other options are there?

I think Panther makes one, but it is equally as pricey.

No simple, inexpensive devices around that I know of.

Some guys have found used T&T outboards and bought them. They then sell the one that they own. Pricey, too. And, it has the risk that the new engine won't be as good as the one they already owned.

I'll warn you ahead of time you have two choices if you go with CMC and have a Yamaha. You will have to make an adapter plate to go between the motor and the CMC unit or go with the bigger 130 unit from CMC. The Yamaha 25 bolt pattern is wider than most small outboards and will not fit the small CMC units. I go the adapter route. I have put several on.

I put a CMC PT35 on my Grizzly 1448 and hung a Yamaha 9.9.

No adapter plate needed. Just drilled holes in the CMC to match the motor.

They are expensive but SO much nicer then doing it manually.
