I know this is a personal preference issue but i'm getting ready to do a rebuild on a 14/36 i just acquired. it has 10 large ribs front to back and 2 transom braces to floor and seems to be built pretty sturdy. I was told it is a 1957 sears. it measures 56 at the widest point at the top edge. I was planning on decking it right on top of the middle bench(which is actually closer to the bow than the middle), up to the bow. would I be better keeping it lower? I bass fish mostly and am not a big guy and still consider myself pretty nimble. seems like a lot of work to take the bench out to drop it a little but i'm willing to do it if necessary. I have a big shop and welding capabilities and i'm a pretty descent fab guy so i can do whatever is needed to try to do it right the first time. while i've had several store bought bass boats this is my first attempt on a jon boat. great site and lots of info. I appreciate any input you have as i just keep staring at it thinking and i keep coming up with all kinds of ideas. if i don't just start working on it soon in may never get to fish. my son keeps telling me "stop staring at it and just start on it so we can fish" Thanks again Mike
