My 2 favorite rods are over 30 years old. Fish with them every weekend.
Many of us keep the older now classic tackle up and going as many do with these older boats. The 2 outfits in the picture are 60+ year old tackle. The boat rod and reel are my Mother's from the mid 1950's.....the rod is Calcutta cane and the reel a 4/0 Penn Senator. The spinner is a Garcia Mitchell 302 saltwater spinning reel on it's original fiberglass 8 ft rod circa early 1960's. The drags have been re-built in both and I still use them both every trip out into the blue water.

Update on my rod holder.
Absolutely Fantastic.
Want to make one small change to it then it will be perfect..
I will tell you that the 8” rise from the top Tier is such a back relief.
Best part of the whole deal I was not expecting.

I would encourage others to build something similar.
It’s the cats ***..
 
I finally feel at home with my large amount of rods! I will be visiting here again shortly as I try to solve my storage issue!
