I hear ya, in my area, yellow perch is really popular right now, wholesale at the local fish warehouse is 26 bucks a pound for fillets !! I learned to boat/ fish on the cheap now that I am mostly on my own. However, if I were to figure actual costs....26 might not be a bad price, even though I would never actually pay that much !!

Catfish in the stores is running around $11.00 dollars a pound here in Oklahoma. With free bait and a small boat with a little motor plus living four miles away from a boat ramp at Eufaula I can actually beat that price very easily.

Yeah, don't buy those Vietnamese catfish called swai. Probably from a pond under the chicken coops.

I'm with you, Sonny. I fish on the cheap at the local lake. I typically burn one gallon of gas per trip. $4 can get me quite a few fish, if I'm meat fishing.
