Looking at adding a Bob's tilt/trim to my MV1546AW Alumacraft Jon boat, my motor is already so far back I use a tiller extension for operation another 5.5" is doable, it looks like the motor will be higher does this effect performance. Not a lot of install information available any tips or suggestions? IMG_1103.JPGView attachment 115834IMG_1103.JPGView attachment 115834

I've looked at adding a console besides cost prohibitive I'd have to change to a heavier motor with elec start and tilt would be adding more weight. The biggest problem is reaching the tilt lever to pull the motor up, thinking about a push pull cable setup of some sort.

I have the same motor on a 14/42, it has power trim on it and electric start. I also added a manual jackplate and pushing the motor back allows me to raise the motor up quite a bit.
I don't think your tilt/trim will add much more weight than my rig. I have no problem with the weight and your boat is wider than mine. I am thinking you might get a little more speed with the right prop.

I received the CMC unit today much heavier than the 9 pounds on Amazon more like 24 lbs. I'm moving the battery forward and plan running 1/2 tank of fuel to compensate I never use more than 1/2 tank in a day. Tomorrow is install day I'll post the results.

It's on I can reach the motor to start and steer that's a plus the proof will be in the fishing this weekend webmail.sasktel.jpg

All good was able to reach the motor easily, lifting the motor for a shore landing is much better than lifting by hand, adjusting the trim on the fly makes the boat a little faster the extra weigh doesn't affect performance.
Caught some nice walleye one was a little over 4 lbs.

Thanks for the follow up. I’m also in the market for an add on tilt/trim unit.

My situation is a little different, I have two outboards with different bolt patterns, a Suzuki DF20 and a Merc F25 Jet. The Merc is BIA and the Suzuki isn’t. They both need tilt/trim so rather than drilling a bunch of extra holes in the transom of my new boat I’ll just mount the add on T&T and adapt to the mounting plate.

I’m looking at Bob’s Tilt and Jac Versa or the CMC PT-130. The Versa looks like a better design but, the price is higher too.
