I like your setup fish4thrills! Been trying to get my hands on a recurve for a few months. Any tips on selecting a bow? Also, be careful what you shoot. Not sure about Kentucky but if you are caught bow fishing catfish in Missouri it's a bad day for you.

Just don't overbow yourself. My Browning Wasp is about 47# at my draw length. Check out the big auction site and look for a 58" AMO or so recurve from 40# to 50# at 28".

We have a 5 fish limit on bowfishing for catfish here in KY. We also can harvest 2 spoonbills with the bow as well.

I went for a while today and shot silvers until my arms wore out. This was the biggest bighead of the day.

Here we go:

This flounder was 5 lbs 8 oz, and about 24" in length. Even being this large, he was only in about 6-8" of water. We actually drifted past it, and I caught it out the corner of my eye, and we turned around.

Here's the cooler after a night's gigging and bowfishing, with some spot tail bass, spotted seatrout, and black drum.

Another Gigging Grand Slam.JPG

Here's the cooler emptied, with the fish laid out. This is typical of gigging and bowfishing in November, you don't see many flounder like in the warmer months. Gigging or shooting black drum is legal year round, but it is unlawful from Dec 1-Mar 1 to gig or shoot seatrout or spot tail bass, so, we like to get in some gigging during those last few weeks of November when the water is cooling off and getting really clear, with visibility as much as 4-6 ft at times.

The spot tail was about 18" long, and the trout were roughly 24" in length and about 8 lbs. The black drum were about 16" and roughly 1-2 lbs each.

Doesn't anyone use a rod and reel anymore? Sure am glad you boys are shootin them asian carp though.
Here are a few caught the old fashioned way.
Tim

Sometimes I do. And a lot of the time, I enjoy using tackle and tactics that most fishermen in saltwater don't use, such as fly rods, and even a 20 ft bream buster.
