Only thoughts I can give of any value is on the motor situation.... Since you dont have much money in it I would use it to learn with. I bought a 57, alumacraft I think, 5 years ago that had two 10hp motors. one was a 57 johnson and the other was a little newer, mid 70's maybe.... any who, I would never be confused for a mechanic but after some digging around in them ended up being able to part the 70's with the 57 to get a working motor. Actually it ran like a champ after some messing with the knob settings while running on the lake. Just my opinion but like I said, what do you have to lose if you mess up something on a motor that doesnt work now?? I really wish I would have found this site before I sold that boat three years ago. Got a 96 Pro 17 with a 60hp merc now so I am stoked to have found this place now.
