Ok i just got a 12 ft jon boat and there are some leaking rivets. So i have started to replace then with a size bigger. But anyway i would love to see some 12 ft mods and the design they used or if anyone has input on i have looked at lot so far still don't know what i to do yet i know want a live well and trolling motor up on the bow should i use a gas motor in the back ??? where should live well go up front on middle or back also battery's up front or back and what is a good way for hatch doors to open ? i was thinking about like when it is sitting on the trailer i could open them and load my gear. I know this info is on the site but omg reading though it all would take so so long. Hope some people see this and give me a info also some pics of what i am working with a front deck framing idea

Hey man I'm doing a 12 right now too.. You should think about a gas motor unless you are planning on not going far or not in a hurry. If you get a gas motor then think about your weight distribution, at the time you should think about moving the battery closer to the middle/front. Ive done some mods but still got work to do. Here is my link https://www.tinboats.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=32655

So any ideas on what i should do next paint keep framing in things or should i go and buy the electronic and start to run all the wiring ??

also anyone have any good ideas for what hp motor i found a 7.5 hp motor runs for 200 craiglst

Well still to cold to paint dang weather!! Anyway i cut the front deck and the floor deck out also cut the insulation foam for the floor deck and cut a storage out of the middle seat and storage out of the front deck and put the carpet down on the floor deck also i did buy the 7.5 hp gamefisher motor for 150 guy started it in front of me nut did not let it run

Looking good.

The stuff that was around the rivets looked to me like a patch someone had tried in the past, most likely a two part epoxy like JB weld.

I have never seen a rivet gun like you are using, those long handles must give you pretty good leverage?

That rivet gun is so much nicer than that little hand gun and yes a lot more leverage the hand one couldn't pop the rivet in some areas. also did a lot more sanding yesterday and did some painting of the bottom and sidewalls  will have to post some more pics today also i filled the boat and checked for leaks before painting only had 3 instead of the 70+ leaks and all the epoxy lol so i redid those 3 rivets and did not paint that area just in case. Yeah i know i jump the gun on painting but the break in the weather i had to also i didn't do the best sanding job so i am thinking maybe next fall redo the paint i dunno. I will have enough paint to do like 10 times

couple pic updates

We are all watching, looks like you are doing a real good job it will be nice to see the finished results, but if you are like most of us there will always be something new to add.

I've been watching. I can't really lend much experience because I just bought my 1st 12' jon boat a couple months ago. It is sitting in the garage and will begin work 1st quarter of 2014. I believe you made a good choice on battery and livewell location. If it is too much you could always move the battery on the other side of the middle bench. Is it a bait livewell or fish livewell? Where do you normally go fishing at and what for?

Well nice to know you guys are watching thought I was posting for nothing for a minute . The livewell will be used for the fish I catch. I don't use live bait a whole lot like never really. I go fishing at a lot of wakeless motor lakes so that's why I figured maybe start with a 12ft and I do a lot walley and bass fishing there's a lake right done the road that has some pretty decent size tiger musky and northern pike really I go all over the place to fish.

Also maybe a lil input on electrical should i run each wire form switch back to the battery or should i get one of those in the pic and run form there to switch panel
