See if I can load a YouTube

Looks like the same back fin pockets. But no splash well.
They remove those to replace transom.

Here are all the pics so far. Got dark out.

But the suns coming up shortly...

Appears to be a '60/'61 Malibu/Coronado.
The splash well and the 45 rating showed up in '60 and the fins were gone by '62 (I think).
The difference in the two models was basically the back seat.
Malibu was the family cruiser with rear seat backs and the Coronado was the hybrid fisher with rear bench only.
Hard to tell from the pics if there is evidence of the seat back brackets or not.

Just for clarity, the Malibu and the Coronado were two different models.
They shared a hull, but were rigged differently.
The presence of rear seat backs would be the Malibu.
The absence of rear seat backs would be the Coronado.

Ok so the Splash well was only on Coronado. With it's 45 hp rating. It's Title says 1961.

Just got everything transfered over. New temp stickers are on her. Pulling out all the old wood. For templates.

Throw the 15hp Mercury 2 Stroke on her for the weekend.

She has zero leaks. Sun baked bone dry after pumping out rainwater.

Now I need a Classic 50 Merc. Old Blue Stripes..

i need to find more out now we are getting her Narrowed down.

Found a 1961 Coronado
Different paint. No seat backs in rear. Cushions not available as an option.

I think I like the paint scheme better on that Coronado.

My Dad had a LoneStar with a hard top. It had a big transom bracket. It had the port holes and bow hatch. High sides and a lot of room. Great boat. I've only seen one like it out on the lake in recent years. Every time I see any kind of LoneStar it brings back found memories.

somehow, I think we are speaking past each other?
The splashwell wasn't a difference in the two models, it was an update that occured to both in 1960.
The hp rating wasn't a difference, it was consistent to both. (and most likely increased due to the splashwell holding things together better)
The only main difference in the two models, the Malibu and The Coronado is the presence/absence of the rear seat backs.
Or perhaps on older hulls needing restoration, the evidence of where seat back brackets used to be. (the holes where the rivets were)
All other features of construction were basically the same.
When the models were updated through the years, both models received all other updates together.
When the splashwell was introduced, both hulls received the splashwell.
The Malibu was targeted to a family for joy riding and could seat more people comfortably with the complete rear seats.
The Coronado was targeting fishing trips, too, so left the rear seat as a bench only to accommodate moving around the boat with a fishing pole.

If you see the triangular brackets -or the holes where they were- attached on the inside gunnel above the rear seat frame, it's a Malibu.
The light blue boat pictured above is a Malibu. It has rear seat backs and the factory braces against which they are mounted.

The following factory graphic from 1960 shows these brackets and a splashwell on a Malibu.
