 7:30AM-1:00PM. Sunny, calm turning windy, 50-54 water temps, 35-65 air temps, heavily stained water. It was a beautiful chilly morning on one of my favorite South Jersey puddles. Very first cast with a crankbait caught me a pile of 50lb mono with a 4lb channel cat on the end of it. The thing had sores on its mouth from the hook. My guess it was dragging the line around a while. The first bass came on a Booyah Booge Bait(chatterbait) fished around the dying lily pads. Worked a few more areas with no fish. Then I concentrated on fishing the deeper water with traps and cranks. Ended up catching three on a Series 3 Strike King crankbait. Fishing the lure slow just bumping the bottom was the deal. All the bites were subtle, just barely getting hooked on the rear treble. Lost one that was just barely hooked. The bite shutdown after 11:00AM. Overall it was a tough morning. All the fish caught were thick in the middle.
