Just acquired this boat from a fellow who bought it from another fellow who didn’t have the boat title. 99% Certain it is Lone Star Big Fisherman d/t seat style, oarlocks length, and remainder of name on seat, etc but wondering about the year to try to put on our registration.

ID tag on transom is 12412067. Understand all records were destroyed by Chrysler but know there are folks out there that might know some things.

Purchased for my 12 year son old to work on/restore this summer.

Thanks!

I'm not a Lone Star guru, but I've had a couple and your numbered plate doesn't resemble any of the previous LS numbering systems that I've encountered.
My gut says that it's a state-created number that is unique to only some state's registration info, not Lone Star's production info.
Many states do this when registering boats made prior to the 1972 federal HIN legislation. So ultimately, it's possible to dig up some info from the last state in which it was registered.
But also, Lone Star tended to stamp their unique model/serial numbers into their hulls and they're usually able to be decoded in some way. I've seen most stamped in the rear of the boat, many times right beneath the gunnel on the inside. Usually upside down, too, for what that's worth.

edit: Using the Fiberglassics Library spec sheets, it looks like the Big Fisherman showed up in 1958 and was still in the lineup post-Chrysler in 1965.
At least that might narrow down the choices for year if you don't find the stamped serial.

I thought it was odd too that it wasn’t stamped. I wonder if the factory stamp is in fact under the plate? The DMV looked up the number and said there were two Lone Stars registered in NYS with similar starting serial numbers one was a ‘61 & one was a ‘63.

Looking back on some old threads in other forums, I've now seen an LS numbering system like this. (In format, anyway. Not on a riveted plate)
I have no idea when it began, though.
My two Lone Stars were from the early 50s and incorporated the date year directly in the serial.
In this later format, the first digit would be the last number of the year, the next three are model numbers, and the remaining are production numbers.
So your plate would translate to 1961; model #241; production #2067
That does at least speak to your '61 info, but I have no idea if its a coincidence or not?
