Kind of like going to a bait shop, running into someone who just caught a big mess of fish, and then asking him where he got them. Do you really think he's going to tell you the whole truth?

35.667293 -118.406606 Lake Isabella

34.652338 -118778684 Pyramid Lake

Both from when I still lived in California.
Isabella (at the point marked) has a lot of trees and stumps that you can map out when the water is low.
Pyramid is in somewhat of a canyon environment with steep drop offs (at the point marked).

I've heard it said that they believe the next world record Large mouth Bass will come out of either. Mostly for Isabella which also has man sized catfish. I once watched an old couple take turns fighting one off the south bank for over an hour before finally landing it. When I walked over to check it out, that fish was bigger than me (I was 16 at the time).
