I am looking at a 4 stroke Yamaha short shaft, electric start. I believe its cable steering. Any pros or cons to this motor. Can I convert to a pull start and tiller steer, cost,? Asking because I no little about outboards. Thanks in advance!

That engine should have a pull start built into it already. It can be converted to tiller steer but it will cost a lot of money and might not be worth it depending on the deal you got on the motor in the first place. These motors are very quiet and very easy to start. From what I have heard they are realiable but are heavy so check and make sure you transom can support this weight. Depending on year and condition tat motor could have a wide range of prices. Good luck!
