I believe you are asking about the fiddlehead fern. I have not had them myself. I am from South Carolina, we don't have them here.

Yep, fiddleheads. Yummmm. Perfect with scrambled eggs and a piece of fish or deer sausage! I used to know of a good patch near my old house, haven't checked it in a few years. Yery small window of opportunity, they come and pass real quick.

Hmmmmm. I'm going to have to take a good look at my neighbor's fern patch. I seem to recall they break ground like that. Something to think about and give a try.
Watchya do......just saute them?
