Where are the best places to get deck hatches?

The width at the floor is 51". I am not near the boar right now and don't know the beam. Since the sides are sloped I don't know how to rivet to it. I would have to be able to bend the metal to match the slope.

You are correct. It costs less per cubic foot to buy the sheets at Lowes, and it would be much easier to remove if I needed to fix a rivet or wanted to reconfigure my boat. Thank you for pointing this out to me.

That looks great! I would like to do something like that. I don't know what most of those components in your picture are called. Could you make a list of the components in your picture, using trade names if possible, so I can research more about how to do this?

I want to add a deck over part of my boat, but don't know what to anchor to. I could span the width of the boat with aluminum angles, but how would I anchor the angles to the sides of the boat? The angles that span the width of the boat would be a few inches below the tops of the sides.

If you were out in rough water and bad waves break over the side, I guess it is pretty unpredictable what it would take to keep up.

When selecting a bilge pump, is bigger better? From looking at the bilge pump selections at The Academy, you can get bilge pumps rated anywhere from 360 to 1200 GPM, all about the same price. Is there any disadvantage of having the bilge pump with the largest capacity?

As long as you don't add a false floor on top of the actual hull I think it is already water cooled. :D

Seems like you would need a helper to hold the bucking bar when you get away from the edge. What do you do when you are working alone?

If I put closed cell foam down and covered that with plywood would that stay cool?

I don't want to put carpet on my boat because I will be fishing shallow saltwater and will be getting in and out to wade. Carpet would get filthy very quickly. Would a spray or roll on bed liner help keep the aluminum cool? Has anyone ever tried putting any other kind of coating or membrane...
