Help finding WOT Rpm rating on Evinrude

Alright i need some help a search has produced nothing for me as off yet i have a 1993 evinrude 40 hp Short shaft tiller model E40TEETB. I am wanting to find out what the max RPM rating is for this motor. Any help will greatly be appreciated

Manufacturer recommended operating range is 4500 - 5500 rpm. Your motor will probably be happiest turning around 5000, or just a little over.

Thank you. I guess i need to find a cheap tach to put on the motor and see what im turning so i can prop my boat out. I dont think its turning over 5000 roght now

Get a Tiny Tach. Cheap, work great, and easy to install.

Yeah i was looking at them but after reading reviews im cautious of the iten being completely accurats im just going to throw a omc tach on it to check it out
