Minn Kota Terrova motor failure

Thrust motor quit running. Replace control board, ran for 2 hours and quit again. Took motor apart, all seemed to spin freely.

Any diagnostics on servicing these motors?

I have a 12 volt 55lb thrust unit. I bought it used last year. The replaced control board was dated 2017.

I believe there are service manuals published for them. I would suspect a short somewhere, or there is a fault in the armature that is drawing too much power.

I imagine you would just go through and verify inputs/outputs to the control board, if that passes then you would move onto the thrust motor itself, likely testing it by manually powering it with a DC power supply and monitoring the current draw.

Solved! Control board checked out fine. Ended up being the DC common in the motor housing.
