Got an 1987 Mercury 45hp classic 50 outboard with power tilt and controls that runs great. Just trying to figure out about how much to try to get out of it. Thanks for any help.

I'd say about $1000
I just bought that same motor on a boat (so I cant really tell you what the motor alone is worth), but I was hoping you could tell me how to engage (lock) the tilt lock mechanism. My other outboards, always had a lever so I could lock that, but I cant seem to find one.

Turns out my Classic 50 is actually a 1986 and not an 87. I dont have the same tilt lock as you, instead mine appears to auto-lock itself when shifted into reverse, and unlocks while in neutral and forward. Seems like a good idea until it stops working.
