I have a '02 yami 25 four stroke with electric start. Did that motor come standard with an alternator?
 
Nearly all electric start motors include the alternator. Some are better chargers than others, but very few did not have charging capabilities, and those that didn't were usually on the low hp side (8-15). Easy way to tell is to start the motor and see what the voltage is. If it is higher with the motor running than it is immediately after you stop the motor, then it's charging.

Yes. Mounted under the flywheel. IIRC, 15 amp total output at 6000 RPM. Technically it's a "AC generator"...but most everyone calls it an alternator. And that's fine, I know what they mean.
